Full Sound Quality Test

TOZO may not be a household brand name like JBL or Sony, but they’ve been growing in popularity for their budget earbuds and headphones that are selling many thousands of units per month on Amazon.

This HT3 model is actually selling well over 4,000+ units per month alone, which makes it one of the most popular noise cancelling headphones under $50.

My first listening impressions of the TOZO HT3 is that it does lean consumer-friendly with a very forward bass, but with decent detail in the treble to complement that bass.

The actual sound quality from the drivers is pretty decent, but I think the stock tuning is far too bass-heavy, resulting in a bit of a muddy and “underwater” sound at times.

For the average consumer, I think these are a fun-sounding headphone for the modern genres like Pop, Hip Hop, and EDM.

As an audiophile, I think they need a good amount of EQ to balance it out and sound more natural, as the timbre is pretty off.

Luckily, there is a nifty TOZO app with custom EQ and presets available to tune the HT3 to your liking.

Overall, the sound quality itself is not bad, especially under $50, but the stock tuning just needs a bit of work.

The TOZO HT3 is average weight considering it actually has pretty solid build quality for a budget headphone.

Most budget headphones the HT3 competes with are very cheap and plasticky, resulting in lower weights.

Now, the HT3 isn’t perfect, as it has a fairly firm clamping force and the earcup space is slightly cramped.

The earpad cushions are fairly supportive to offset the clamping force, so the HT3 ends up being a slightly above average headphone for comfort.

In my testing, I found this rating to be accurate.

55 hours with ANC on and 90 hours with ANC off would be considered one of the best for the class, which averages around 30 hours with ANC on.

There is a fast-charge feature that adds 9 hours with just 10 minutes of charging time.

Build Quality

One of the most surprising things about the TOZO HT3 is its strong build quality for being a sub-$50 headphone.

The HT3 features metal sliders in the headband and feels a significant step up from the very plasticky and cheap-feeling budget headphones in this price category, including the popular ones from JBL and Sony.

The only other budget headphone with comparable build quality is the Soundcore Q20i.

Practicality

The TOZO HT3 is one of the best daily drivers under $50 due to its build quality, battery life, and relatively good active noise cancelling.

Many sub-$50 don’t even have any active noise cancelling at all.

These headphones also fold to save space when traveling and putting them into a backpack or bag.

Active Noise Cancelling (ANC) Performance

Aside from its strong build quality and near best-in-class battery life, the most impressive feature about the TOZO HT3 for me is its relatively strong noise cancelling performance.

For reference, most of its sub-$50 competitors from JBL and Sony don’t even have any active noise cancelling included.

The Soundcore Q20i does have ANC, but the TOZO HT3 is superior.

Under $50, this is the best noise cancelling I’ve tested to date.

Compared to the wider range of 60+ headphones we’ve tested, I’d say the HT3 is average in noise cancelling, which is mighty impressive for a headphone you can find for under $30 on sale.

Value

The TOZO HT3 retails at $49.99 USD, but is currently around $34 market price brand new.

I cannot believe this level of build quality, battery life, and noise cancelling performance for this little of a price.

Only the Soundcore Q20i comes to mind when it comes to matching the TOZO HT3 under $50.

Simply put, this is one of the easiest perfect Value scores we’ve given out to date.

Is the TOZO HT3 Headphones Worth it?

The fact that the TOZO HT3 can be found for as low as under $30 on sale blows my mind.

Even at its full $49.99 retail price, I think the TOZO HT3 is easily worth every penny.

I’ve tested most of its direct competition in this price range, and only the Soundcore Q20i can give it a run for its money as an overall package.

I will say that the stock tuning could be much improved, but there’s plenty of EQ options inside of the app to fix that.
